the ARENA was the BEST! todae was MGS against St Nics. and even though i think mgs would win, i do think that stnics really tried their best. the fact that the first 2 speakers in stnics weren't as great as the first 2 in mgs. however, the last speaker for stnics was very much more persuasive than her other 2 teammates. it would really be better if she were the 2nd speaker. in fact, her speech would have made a really good body and prob wldnt cost stnics so many points. as in..44-0? u gotta b kidding.. but mgs was tough as hell.. and they got the easier question. today's debate was on "are youths driven on self-centeredness ALONE?> mgs really highlighted the ALONE part and it turned the tables. even tough stnics tried to be really persuasive but they didn't really show out their points well and powerful enough. there was always a loophole in their side that mgs was able to find. the first 2 speakers didn't really look as if they were that confident. prehaps they needed a better 1st speaker to really build out the foundation. because of the first speaker, the other 2 kinda suffered. the whole point of the whole debate after that was on.. kindness and selfishness working hand in hand which i don't think works out in any way. ever. the whole part was on the alone. because st nics was debating on what makes people want to be selfish. whereby mgs was talking more on why they should not link selfinterest and selfcenteredness together when they are entirely 2 different things
selfinterest: doing smthg on personal interest/advantage
selfcenteredness: engrossed with oneself & one's affairs.
they seems similar but they are in fact, different.
both teams really were awesome and one can't help but be totally blown away with the way the talk and express themselves, however much mgs seems to control the arena more. they were extremely talented in changing the tide and working it towards their advantage. =) yepx! todays indepth observation on the arena.. whee~
